February is American Heart Month and the Pit River Health Service Diabetes and Outreach Department is hosting a Healthy Hearts Walk. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, it claims approximately 1 million lives annually. The good news? It is also one of the most preventable. Making heart-healthy choices, knowing your family health history and the risk factors for heart disease, having regular check-ups and working with your physician to manage your health are all integral aspects of saving lives. Please join the Diabetes and Outreach Department Wednesday, February 28,2018 from 12-1 pm at Pit River Health Service for this Healthy Hearts Walk. Following the walk there will be healthy snacks available, blood pressure screenings, and heart health information. Also the first 25 participants to sign in will receive a free gift! Please show up 15 minutes early to sign in and wear red weather appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. If you have any questions please contact Rebecca Valenzuela, Diabetic Program Assistant, at (530) 335-0349.
